Hey guy--hope you're doing well. What a strange place with all the old friends dropping by now and again. I do enjoy the posts of this sort--like you, completely worn out over the "actual music appreciation" threads.

My little exposure to CREAM (all of it, but there's not much) revealed how much in the early days they interacted with the AUD over songs...always "saying what they were going to play or saying what was just played" and even commenting, "yes, the gal in front is right: we're going to play X". And one AUD member corrects them when JB says "this song is from "album X" when it's from album Y, and they then acknowledge "oh yeah, you're right". Finally, someone yelling "song X!" and then EC says "we're playing song Y" and he yells "that'll do!".

Anyway, not just my usual hijack, but interesting how different bands handled such things differently, and how it changes as fame increases...toward the end they do less of it, CREAM that is, but they never stop talking the way the DEAD did when I say them (again, with 5k or more peeps, I almost thought folks on stage were instructed "Under NO Circumstances can you TALK to the AUD!" by Bill Graham or some such...).
